If you are a true friend, you will learn the following for making lo-o-o-o-ong or graphic-intensive entries in your own LJ: <lj-cut text="outside text">inside text (repeat outside text here if you want it to show inside the cut)</lj-cut>
You don't have to ask to make me your friend. I consider it a subtle sort of compliment to discover new usernames in my "Friend of" section. However, I've reached the point where I don't really have time enough to read everyone anymore, so I won't promise to Friend you back. If I don't know or don't recognize you, or feel I don't know you well enough to be reading your unexpurgated innermost self, give me a chance to get to know you first — make comments, and I may decide I need to add you to my reading list after all.
I am a notoriously bad correspondent. I never call; I never write; I never send you flowers...I'm hoping this will help my family and friends keep up with what's going on in my life.
I will pass lightly over my childhood; if it didn't occur between the pages of a book, I probably didn't notice it. I was a horrible introvert then, but I've improved since then. I am a native of Westmoreland County, VA, and a College of William and Mary alumna. I discovered the Science Fiction Club there, and a social life, and the man who is now my husband. I'm a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, in the Barony of Stierbach in the Kingdom of Atlantia. I have been lightly involved in fandom starting with SciCon quite a while back (until they conflicted with Homecoming), and more recently FanTek cons (now on hiatus), Darkover Grand Council, and TCEP.
Although I sometimes post publically for the sake of my non-LJ-enabled family, I usually filter posts, especially during working hours. [Oh, how could you??? This is such a shock!!!] If you would like to know what filter(s) you might be on, you can go here to see what you can read.
